Welcome to The Curious Commons. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of TheCuriousCommons.com (“The Curious Commons,” “SCL,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

By creating an account, accessing members-only areas, or using The Curious Commons, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not create an account or use the members-only portions of the site.

1. Adults Only — 21+

The Curious Commons is an adults-only community restricted to individuals who are at least 21 years old.

By creating or maintaining an account, you certify that the date of birth and other information you provide are accurate and that you are at least 21 years old.

You may not create an account or access members-only areas of The Curious Commons if you are under 21.

The Curious Commons reserves the right to request additional age verification at any time. We may restrict, suspend, or terminate an account if a member’s age cannot be reasonably verified, if information provided appears inaccurate, or if a member misrepresents their age.

Providing false age or identity information to obtain access to the community is prohibited.

If additional age verification is implemented, The Curious Commons may use a third-party verification provider rather than collecting or retaining copies of government-issued identification directly.

2. Purpose of The Curious Commons

The Curious Commons is an adult community intended to provide education, communication, relationship tools, community interaction, and resources relating to consensual BDSM, Dominance and submission, power-exchange relationships, and related adult relationship dynamics.

The Curious Commons does not guarantee compatibility, safety, trustworthiness, experience, intentions, or conduct of any member.

Members remain responsible for their own decisions and interactions.

3. Consent

The Curious Commons supports relationships and activities involving consenting adults.

Nothing about BDSM, Dominance/submission, ownership terminology, Total Power Exchange, Master/slave dynamics, rules, protocols, agreements, or similar relationship structures eliminates a person’s ability to withdraw consent.

Content advocating actual abuse, exploitation, trafficking, sexual violence without consent, or other unlawful activity is prohibited.

4. Member Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and password.

You agree to provide accurate information and not impersonate another person.

Accounts may not be transferred, sold, shared, or used to evade a previous suspension or termination.

You are responsible for activity occurring through your account.

5. Profiles and Profile Images

Members may provide profile information and, where available, profile and cover images.

You may only upload images or other material that you have the legal right and appropriate consent to share.

You may not upload an image of another person without their permission.

Profile images must comply with these Terms and any Community or Safety Guidelines established by The Curious Commons.

The Curious Commons may remove profile information or images that violate site rules or present safety, legal, or security concerns.

6. Absolutely Prohibited Content

The following is prohibited on The Curious Commons:

• Any sexual or exploitative content involving a person under 18, or anyone represented as a minor.
• Attempts to sexualize, solicit, groom, exploit, or arrange sexual contact with minors.
• Nonconsensual intimate images or recordings.
• Human trafficking, sexual exploitation, or coercion.
• Credible threats of violence or encouragement of actual nonconsensual harm.
• Stalking, harassment, doxxing, blackmail, extortion, or intimidation.
• Content depicting actual sexual assault or abuse.
• Illegal material or use of The Curious Commons to facilitate unlawful activity.
• Malicious software or attempts to compromise The Curious Commons or another member’s account.
• Content that violates another person’s intellectual-property, privacy, or other legal rights.

The Curious Commons may immediately restrict or terminate accounts associated with prohibited conduct and may make reports to appropriate authorities or organizations when required or permitted by law.

7. Member Conduct

Treat other members as adults with their own boundaries and autonomy.

A person’s BDSM role does not grant another member authority over that person.

Being identified as a submissive, slave, Dominant, Master, Mistress, switch, or any other role is not consent to sexual contact, commands, harassment, private messages, or participation in a dynamic.

Members must respect rejection, boundaries, blocks, and requests to end communication.

Using The Curious Commons to repeatedly pursue someone who has declined contact is prohibited.

8. Relationships and Linked Dynamics

The Curious Commons provides tools that members may use to document or organize aspects of their relationships, including agreements, boundaries, protocols, goals, assignments, rituals, check-ins, reflections, calendars, relationship history, and other dynamic-related information.

These tools are provided for personal organization and communication.

A digital agreement, rule, protocol, assignment, relationship status, or other entry within The Curious Commons does not override applicable law or a person’s ability to withdraw consent.

The Curious Commons is not a party to agreements or relationships between members and does not enforce private relationship agreements.

9. Personal Safety

Meeting or interacting with people online carries risks.

Members are responsible for deciding what personal information to disclose and whether, when, and where to communicate with or meet another person.

Features such as profiles, age statements, relationship status, reporting tools, or future verification features should not be interpreted as guarantees that another member is safe or trustworthy.

An age-verification indicator, if offered, means only that the applicable age-verification process was completed. It does not constitute a character assessment, background check, recommendation, or guarantee of safety.

10. Blocking and Reporting

The Curious Commons may provide tools for blocking members and reporting profiles, behavior, or content.

Members must not create additional accounts or use other methods to intentionally circumvent another member’s block.

Reports should be made in good faith.

Knowingly submitting false reports to harass another member may itself violate these Terms.

The Curious Commons may investigate reports and take action it considers appropriate based upon available information.

11. Privacy of Other Members

Information another member shares privately with you should be treated as private.

You may not publicly disclose another member’s private communications, identifying information, address, telephone number, workplace, legal identity, private relationship information, or other nonpublic personal information for the purpose of harassment, intimidation, retaliation, or exploitation.

Members should carefully consider what information they choose to disclose to others.

12. User Content

You retain ownership of content you create and submit to The Curious Commons.

By submitting content that is intended to be displayed through the service, you grant The Curious Commons the limited permission necessary to store, process, display, and transmit that content for operation of the service.

This permission does not give The Curious Commons ownership of your content.

You are responsible for ensuring you have the necessary rights and permissions for material you submit.

13. Moderation

The Curious Commons reserves the right, but does not undertake a general obligation, to review, restrict, remove, or disable access to content or accounts when necessary to operate or protect the service, enforce these Terms, respond to reports, comply with legal obligations, or address safety or security concerns.

Not every disagreement between members constitutes a Terms violation.

The Curious Commons may exercise reasonable discretion when determining whether site rules have been violated.

14. Suspension and Termination

The Curious Commons may warn, restrict, suspend, or terminate an account for violations of these Terms, Community Guidelines, safety requirements, or applicable law.

Serious safety concerns may result in immediate restriction or termination without prior warning.

The Curious Commons may also take reasonable steps to prevent a terminated member from creating replacement accounts.

15. No Professional Advice

Information provided through The Curious Commons is for general informational, educational, communication, and community purposes.

The Curious Commons does not provide medical, mental-health, legal, financial, or other professional advice.

Members should seek qualified professional assistance when appropriate.

16. No Guarantee of Service

We may modify, add, remove, suspend, or discontinue features of The Curious Commons.

We do not guarantee that the website will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free, or free from every security threat.

We may perform maintenance, make security changes, or restrict access when reasonably necessary.

17. Third-Party Services

Some The Curious Commons features may rely upon or link to services operated by third parties.

Those services may have their own terms and privacy practices. The Curious Commons is not responsible for services operated independently by third parties.

18. Disclaimer

The Curious Commons provides a platform through which adults may communicate and use relationship and community tools.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, The Curious Commons is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.

We do not guarantee the identity, intentions, statements, behavior, compatibility, safety, or reliability of individual members.

19. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, The Curious Commons and its owner or operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from use of the service or interactions between members.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where such exclusion or limitation is prohibited by law.

20. Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to be responsible for claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from your unlawful use of The Curious Commons, your violation of these Terms, or content you submit that infringes another person’s rights.

21. Intellectual Property

The The Curious Commons name, site design, original written materials, software, graphics, and other original site materials may be protected by copyright, trademark, or other intellectual-property laws.

Members may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or commercially exploit The Curious Commons materials without permission except where permitted by law.

22. Privacy

Use of The Curious Commons is also subject to our Privacy Policy.

Members should understand that no internet service can guarantee absolute security or confidentiality.

23. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms as The Curious Commons develops, applicable laws change, or new features are introduced.

When changes are material, we may provide notice through the website or require members to acknowledge updated Terms before continuing to use certain portions of the service.

The effective date at the beginning of these Terms identifies the current version.

24. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
